Sonora Winds was established in 2016 by Marta Troicki, Madeline Miller, and Anastasiya Nyzkodub. This ensemble aims to bring accessible, lesser-known music to audiences by creating transformative performance experiences. Sonora Winds strives to introduce their patrons to works that are worth hearing but may have been overlooked in standardized performance programs.

Madeline Miller, a native of Northern Minnesota, is a freelance oboist, private teacher, and reed-maker based in the Duluth-Superior area. She actively contributes to the local music scene. Anastasiya Nyzkodub is a dedicated musician and music educator who regularly performs as a soloist, chamber musician, and orchestral player.

Sonora Winds has been invited to perform at prestigious events such as Chamber Music America's Conference in NYC and the International Double Reed Society Virtual Conference in 2021.

Their repertoire includes compositions by notable composers such as Władysław Walentynowicz, Antoni Szałowski, Alexander Tansman, Barbara Jazwinski, Maciej Małecki, and Józef Świder. Barbara Jazwinski has specifically written compositions for Sonora Winds, further showcasing their unique musical collaborations.
