The Legacy of Displacement

An Interrupted Childhood: Polish WWII Survivors in Minnesota MPMS Art Exhibition Opening

We are thrilled to announce the successful launch of the exhibition "An Interrupted Childhood: Polish WWII Survivors in MN and the Legacy of Displacement" on Monday, November 13, 2023—the conclusion of the second phase of the Kalejdoskop Polski Minnesota project. Our heartfelt thanks extend to all attendees, including those from @mnpolishmedicalsociety, who gathered at the Iversen Center of the University of St. Thomas to inaugurate this impactful exhibit. We are incredibly grateful to the individuals featured in the display who joined us for this special occasion.

The presence of the Consul General of the Republic of Poland in Chicago, Pawel Zyzak, graced the opening ceremony. We also extend special appreciation to distinguished speakers, the University of Professors Pavel Gavrilyuk, Zsolt Nagy, Paul Wojda and Katarzyna Litak, M. D.

The exhibition is now open at the Iversen Center of the University of St. Thomas until December 8, 2023.

Dr. Katarzyna Litak, the exhibition's curator and designer, also serves as the President of MPMS. The visually captivating component of this project was skillfully orchestrated by documentary photographer Grzegorz Litynski, whose work can be explored at www.litynski.com.

Our gratitude extends to the Consulate General of the Republic of Poland in Chicago, the Minnesota Historical Society, the Metro Regional Arts Council, and the Minnesota State Arts Board for their invaluable grant support, playing a crucial role in bringing this project and exhibition to fruition.
